Sudden death of panda in Thai zoo sparks outrage in China

A 19-year-old panda named Chuang Chuang collapsed and died after eating bamboo shoots at the Chiang Mai Zoo in northern Thailand on September 16, 2019. Though the official cause of the animal’s death is under investigation, the incident has sparked outrage in China, which loaned the panda to Thailand in 2003.
